To Read or Not to Read...
Cornelia Funke. If I ever get the chance to meet this author I will bow down right in front of her because I am not worthy. I am an aspiring writer praying I have half the talent of Cornelia Funke. I drool at the thought of crafting a book like these. To be able to create worlds where the reader gets lost in is my quest in life.
Have I gushed enough? I think not.
I discovered this author years ago. The first book that I read was Dragon Rider. It’s an adventure filled with dragons and one special dragon named, Firedrake. He’s on a quest to find the place where silver dragons can be free. Such a magical read for anyone who wishes they could ride a dragon. A great read a loud book. This story is also a series, 2 others follow.
Igraine the Brave was the second I read. This one was filled with fairy tale magic and a heroine, Igraine, dreaming of becoming a knight. Adventure occurs and Igraine bravery is put to the test. This is a fun story for all the girls out there young or old. And you guessed it…another great read a loud.
Now let me tell you a little secret that I am not proud of admitting. Ms. Funke wrote a trilogy beginning with the book Inkheart . I am petrified. No joke. I can not read it. I’ve tried so many times and each time I get to the middle and have to close it. The plot is about a book where the reader can get read into the story. And the story of Inkheart is so creepy, but so fantastic. The characters are so rich and real. I love it so much but it is written so well that I truly feel like I fall into the book just like the characters. I know you’re thinking I’m crazy BUT this story is that amazing! I will conquer this fear and finish this book…I must. (There are two others in the trilogy that I must get to.)
I just finished the first book in her Reckless Series. There are four in this group. Let me tell you, she did it again. The world she puts the reader in is so unbelievable but she wraps you in so tightly that you wake up in the morning wondering which world you are living in. It is so special being a part of her magical worlds.
Winter is fast approaching. Time to sit by the fire and get cozy with a book.
(Please leave comments if you’ve read any of these. I’d love to hear what you think.)
CHEERS TO REVIN UP!
